Detecting solution space of PDEs via local random sampling

Multi-scale problems are believed to be challenging since the discretization has to resolve the smallest scale. However, many of them are homogenizable in the sense that the solution space can be approximated by that of a homogenized equation where only large scale is present. In this talk, we show how to use random sampling technique to find approximate solution without knowing the homogenized equation.
